Maham Begum or Mahim Begum (died 8 May 1533) was the empress consort of the Mughal Empire from 21 April 1526 to 26 December 1530 as the third wife and chief consort of Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire and the first Mughal emperor. She was the mother of Babur's eldest surviving son and eventual successor, Humayun. She is also frequently mentioned in the Humayun-nama by her adoptive daughter Gulbadan Begum, who refers to her as "lady" and "my Lady" (aka and akam, respectively).

Bábur (1483. február 14. — 1530. december 26.), (perzsa: بابر – Bābur, teljes neve Záhirud-Dín Muhammad perzsa ظهیرالدین محمد – Ẓāhirud-Dīn Muḥammad) az első mogul uralkodó Indiában, a Mogul Birodalom alapítója, író, költő, atyai oldalról Timur Lenk ötödik leszármazottja, anyja, Kutlug Nigár révén Dzsingisz mongol nagykán tizenötödik generációs leszármazottja volt. 1494-ben követte apját, Umar Sajh-t a ferganai trónon. Kortársai is magas műveltségű, intelligens uralkodónak tartották, támogatta a művészeteket, az irodalmat, ez utóbbit maga is magas szinten művelte. Leghíresebb műve önéletrajzi írása, a Báburnáme.
